EDC, Chinese NGO sign MoU for solar energy promotion

Energy Development Council (EDC) and China’s Shenzhen Energy Society signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development, expansion and promotion of solar energy in Nepal. The MoU was signed by EDC’s executive manager Itnuma Subba and Society's General Secretary Chang Nan Nanma. 

According to the information provided by EDC, the MoU aims at creating friendly environment to promote, expand and develop solar energy in both countries, holding high-level discussion programme between the two sides, and exchanging travel programmes for the understanding between two countries. 

EDC officials said the Chinese side are willing to immediately invest in solar projects of 25 to 500 MW capacity, adding that it is possible to complete such projects in three months. 

Shenzhen is a non-profit social organization established in China. The organization has 350 members globally, including some of the world's largest solar energy companies. 

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Chairman of EDC Sujit Acharya, and General Secretary of China Renewable Energy Society PV Committee, Lu Fang.
