ST Ranks as the Third Largest Telecom Operator
Smart TelecomSmart Telecom (ST) has been reported as the fastest growing telecom operator in Nepal according to the Economic Survey 2012/13 published by Ministry of Finance. ST’s brand Smart Cell increased its subscriber base by a whopping 85.23 per cent in the eight months of the fiscal year 2012/13 which is highest among all six existing operators, says the press statement issued by the company. 
 
“Within a very short period of initiation of its service, it has been able to gain market share of three percent making it the third largest operator,” says the company. The company is operating mobile telephony services in the rural areas. 
 
Abraham Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Smart Telecom said, “Smart has already invested more than Rs 3 billion in expanding its network and planning to continue with almost 300 Million USD. We in Smart want to be customer centric and service-oriented telecom provider with affordable price and best quality network.” 
 
As a part of corporate social responsibility, the company recently donated a cheque to the Kailali victims via Nepal Red Cross Society to solidarity to the flood victim of far western region of the country. It also lent a helping hand to Sulikot Ghyang Monastery in Sindhupalchowk; Setidevi Primary School in Sindhupalchowk; Garvasi Lower Secondary School, Kakani, Nuwakot, according to the press release. 
 
Smart was licensed as a telecom operator by NTA on July 1, 2008 and granted operating license on April 15, 2013, Smart to operate as a national operator. Currently it covers up 40 districts and has 800,000 subscribers and provides both GSM and VSAT services.
