No changes in NAC flights despite fuel shortage

October 4: Nepal Airlines Corporation has said it is not going to make changes to its international flight schedule, despite fuel shortage.

The flag carrier has however cut passenger seats and cargo on its flight so that it can fly with a heavy fuel load.

On Friday one of NAC’s two Boeing 757s refueled in New Delhi. The corporation said it had to send its Boeing on the route usually covered by the corporation’s Airbus.

Due to an ongoing petroleum crisis in Nepal, NOC on Tuesday had said it will not be able to provide fuel for international flights. The corporation had fuel for flights only till Thursday.

The corporation decided to refuel in India and other countries so that its international flights are not affected. NOC from Friday has used fuelling facilities in New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangkok and Hong Kong for its four aircraft. “With Dashain round the corner, passenger numbers have also increased, we will not cut flights due to fuel shortage” said NAC spokesperson Ram Hari Sharma.
