23 IOC tankers enter Nepal after customs clearance from India

September 22:  Twenty-three tankers ferrying petroleum from India to Nepal through Raxaul, India, have entered Nepal.

According to an official from Nepal Oil Corporation, the tankers entered Nepal on Tuesday afternoon after receiving clearance from the Indian customs.

Earlier, Indian Oil Corporation had not allowed its petroleum tankers to enter Nepal for a few hours, citing security reasons. Indian officials have said they could not allow tankers to enter Nepal through Raxaul because of the security threat presented by the ongoing agitation in the Terai.

The news came just a day after the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement expressing concerns over the safety of Indian freight operators.
