September 15: Load-shedding hours will increase in the upcoming winter, according to executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Mukesh Kafle, thanks to the continuous protest and strike in Terai.

According to NEA, due to the strike, work on the construction of cross-border transmission line has been stalled. Welcoming the newly elected working committee of Society of Economic Journalist Nepal (SEJON), Kalfe said the projects that damaged by the April 25 earthquake have not been able to produce 93 MW of electricity.

NEA, to decrease the load-shedding hours in the winter season, had agreed to import electricity from November 1. Currently, NEA has been importing 250 MW electricity from India, and it plans to import more electricity after the completion of the Dhalkebar to Muzzafarpur (India) transmission line.
