NEW APPOINTMENTS 

Madhav Prasad Upadhaya has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Garima Bikas Bank Limited for the next four years as the tenure of the CEO Govinda Prasad Dhakal ended. Earlier, Upadhaya was the Deputy CEO of the bank. 

Anshu (Maiya) Singh, has joined Golchha Group as General Manager- Corporate Affairs. Earlier, she was with BMW Nepal as Head- Corporate Relations - Sales. 

Sangay Tenzing Lama has joined Barahi Hospitality Kathmandu as Director Sales and Marketing. Earlier, he was at the same position at Kavya Resort & Spa, Nagarkot. 

Minraj Pokharel of Agricultural Development Bank Limited has been promoted as Deputy General Manager from Head of Marketing. 

 

Serene Khatiwada of Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited has been transferred as Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing from the Business Planning Manager to CEO. Before joining SCBNL, Serene worked for PwC India and was involved in economic advisory. This position was vacant after Pranu Singh went to UK at the Standard Chartered headquarters where she has taken up a new role as Director- EV & Engagement Group, Community Impact, Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing. 

Dilip Kumar Pokharel has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited after the merger with BPW Bittiya Sanstha Limited. 

Bhoj Raj Basyal has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nerude Mirmire Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited established after the merger of Nerude and Mirmire. The company has also decided to appoint Tulsi Ram Pathak as Company Secretary. 

Dilip Sharma, who has more than 20 years of experience in the microfinance sector, has started holding the responsibilities of Corporate Marketing Head along with Manager at Guardian Micro Insurance. Sharma was previously working in Laxmi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited. Guardian Micro Insurance has its head office in Biratnagar, and has started its operation giving the services throughout Nepal. 

Kuber Mani Nepal has been reinstated as the Managing Director of Ridi Power Company Limited. Nepal was suspended from the post due to the money laundering case. Nepal has been reinstated in the post after being cleared in the case by the special court. Sayika Bhandari, who was the Managing Director at the Company, will now be the Director of the company. Rairang Hydropower Development Company was merged to Ridi recently. 

Pawan Pokharel has been appointed as CEO of Mid Valley International College and Galaxy Public School. Earlier, he was in Campion College - Kathmandu. 

ELECTED IN PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANIES 

Tara Kunwar, Iman Singh Gurung, Subhash Jamarkattel and Maya Bhandari have been re-elected unopposed to the Board Directors in Mahila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited. 

Nanda Kumar Maharjan has been elected as the President of Samudayik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited. Similarly, Rajeshwor Adhikari, Bhupendra Gopal Shrestha and Puspa Ram Shrestha have been elected as directors of the company from the founding group. Similarly, Nabin Sharma and Nirmala Nepal are Directors from general public and Tirtha Ratna Konajo is the independent director. 

 

Hem Raj Dhakal has been elected as the Chairman of IGI Prudential Insurance. 

Suresh Lal Shrestha has been elected as the Chairman of Siddhartha Premier Insurance Ltd. 

Nerude Mirmire Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited has elected six new directors including Santosh Phuyal, Mani Kumar Arjyal, Deep B. Shrestha and Surendra Raj Bhattarai from the promoters group and Sudhir Kumar Shrestha and Sanju Ghimire from the general public. Nerude Lagubitta and Mirmire Lagubitta started integrated operation from 30th of February. 

ELECTED IN BUSINESS ASSOCIATIONS 

Manoj Karki, Managing Director (MD) of Summit Air, has been elected as the President of Airline Operators Association, an organization of domestic airlines, for the next 2 years. Pratap Jung Pandey, MD of Kailash Helicopters is Senior Vice President, Nimanuru Sherpa, MD of Altitude Air is First Vice President, Anil Manandhar, Corporate Manager of Shree Airlines is Vice President, Subas Sapkota, CEO of Yeti Airlines is General Secretary, Muralidhar Joshi is Secretary and Rupesh Joshi, Senior Marketing Director of Buddha Air is Treasurer in the Association. 

Prajwol Shrestha has been elected as the Director of Green Development Bank Limited for the rest of the term of position he fills. His election is subject to approval by the upcoming annual general meeting. 

GOVERNMENT MOVEMENTS 

 

Eknarayan Aryal has been transferred as the Secretary of Home Ministry from the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers replacing Dinesh Bhattarai. Similarly, Bhattarai has been transferred to the Prime Minister's Office. 

The government has promoted Dr Hari Prasad Lamsal to the vacant post of Secretary (special class). Lamsal was Acting Chief Secretary of Sudur Paschim Province Government. 

The government has promoted Chudamani Paudel to the post of Secretary (special class). Poudel was Joint Secretary and the acting Chief Secretary of Karnali Province. Now, even with his promotion to the post of Secretary, he is going to be posted in Karnali. 

Government has accepted the resignation of Kewal Prasad Bhandari, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security. According to Section 37 of the Civil Service Act 2049 BS, employees who have joined the bureaucracy before November 6, 1992 and have completed 30 years of service can opt for voluntary retirement (resignation) even before their mandatory retirement is not due. This allows them to calculate the remaining period until reaching 60 years and receive additional pension benefits. Due to this, some secretaries have chosen to resign a few days before reaching the age of 58 or before completing their 5-year tenure. 

The government has appointed Sangita Singh, Kushendra Bahadur Mahat, Shiva Raj Adhikari and Arnico Kumar Panday as members of the National Planning Commission (NPC). Adhikari is the chief of the Central Department of Economics at Tribhuvan University, while Panday, who is an atmospheric scientist, was a central member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party from where he resigned after being appointed NPC Member. 

Dr Ujjwal Chalise has been appointed as the Chief of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital. He was Radiation Oncologist there. Before that Dr Chaslise was with National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences. 

The government has appointed three new board members at the Nepal Tourism Board. Tourism entrepreneurs Rishi Ram Bhandari (Kaski), Ram Prasad Sapkota 'Kamal' (Dhading) and Rajendra Bahadur Lama (Kavre) have been appointed to the board of NTB. These three posts had remained vacant for a couple of months. Bhandari is the Managing Director and Founder of Satori Adventures (P.) Ltd. Rishi has had a long-time connection with both trekking and mountaineering from an early age. Hotelier Sapkota (Kamal) also owns Mountain Delights Treks and Expedition Pvt. Ltd. Lama, is the founder and director of Friends Adventure Team Pvt. Ltd. 

Madhusudan Burlakoti has been appointed as the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population. Before that, he was working in the office of the Vice President. After Dev Kumari Guragain retired from the government, the post of health administration was vacant. 

Prof Dr Surya Bahadur Thapa has been appointed as the Chief Economic Adviser of the Ministry of Finance. He is a Professor of Economics under the Faculty of Education at Tribhuvan University. Earlier, Thapa was a member of the commission formed to investigate Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari when Janardan Sharma was the finance minister. 

Keshav Kumar Sharma, Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, has been transferred to the Water Resources and Energy Commission. He spent 14 months in the ministry. Sarita Dawadi, working in the Commission, has been taken to the Ministry of Energy. Dawadi has been given the responsibility as the Secretary of irrigation in the Ministry of Energy. Irrigation Secretary Shushil Chandra Tiwari has been given the charge of Energy. Similarly, Gopal Prasad Sigdel has been transferred to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport. Sigdel was previously at the Ministry of Energy.
