January 20: The government is to begin providing labour permit from Surkhet, the capital of KarnaliProvince, from January 20.

The Labour and Employment Office of the province will provide the permit and also monitor and regulate the foreign employment agencies, according to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.

The state-run news agency, RastriyaSamacharSamiti (RSS), reported that the service has already begun in Province 2, Province 5 and Gandaki Province. The service will begin in other provinces soon.

Prior to this, the migrant workers from Karnali had to travel all the way to the capital Kathmandu to get the labour permit.
