Businessmen Stress on Need for Professional Standard in Business

November 16: A skill-development project funded by the European Union has been started by the government of Nepal in collaboration with the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

The project is expected to reduce the gap between demand and supply by producing skilled manpower through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TEVT). It will motivate to maximize the employment and equal opportunity to trained youths.  

According to the project, a total of 26.1 million euros has been allocated for the project. Businessmen and experts who participated in a workshop titled ‘Benefits of professional standard in private sector and technical education and training’ said that it is necessary to maintain professional standard in business.

CN Kurli, team leader of the project, said that technical education enhances human capacity as well as the productivity of humans. Shekhar Golchha, vice president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) stated that private sector has been creating employment despite multiple hurdles and the project will enhance professional capacity by preparing skilled manpower.
