Government Instructs Insurance Companies to Settle Covid-19 Insurance Claims within 7 Days

November 4: The government has instructed insurance companies to settle the insurance claims related to Covid-19 cases within  seven days following complaints regarding delay in payment issues.

The government issued such instructions in accordance to the laws related to coronavirus insurance.

The Ministry of Finance on Tuesday (November 3) issued such directive to the Insurance Board. Following the instruction from the government, the Insurance Board on the same day issued a circular to all insurance companies telling them to settle the insurance claims of Covid-19 cases within the timeframe set by the law.

The Insurance Board has clearly stated in the circular that all insurance companies must settle the claims within seven days.

Executive Director of the Insurance Board Raju Raman Poudel informed that the board instructed the insurance companies to settle the claims within seven days as per the instruction of the finance ministry.

“We received a letter from the finance ministry in this regard on Tuesday. We then issued the circular the same day,” said Poudel, adding, “Hopefully, patients infected with coronavirus will now receive compensation on time. The pending claims will also be settled soon.”
