Team Ventures, a leading alternative investment firm in Nepal, has announced its strategic investment in Annapurna Machha Dana Udyog Ltd. (AMDU), a rapidly growing agri-processing company focused on feed production.
An aggregate investment of Rs 216.8 million has been made by Team Ventures and its affiliated partners, the company said in a statement.
Based in Khairahani, Chitwan, AMDU operates a modern manufacturing facility equipped with European technology, with an installed capacity of 33,500 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA). AMDU offers a diverse range of fish feed products from micro feed to 4mm standard feed under its flagship brand, “Matsya Raja”, widely recognized for its quality, consistency, and farmer-centric approach.
“This investment marks AMDU’s first institutional capital infusion and reflects Team Ventures’ commitment to advancing Nepal’s agriculture sector by supporting scalable enterprises that drive both economic and social impact,” read the statement.
“We see tremendous potential in AMDU to become a national champion in sustainable feed production,” the statement quoted Bikash Chandra Bhandari, Chief Investment Officer at Team Ventures, as saying. “This partnership is about more than capital, it’s about fostering import substitution, and building resilient domestic industries that uplift livelihoods across the agricultural value chain.”
“We’re honored to have Team Ventures as our first institutional investor,” the statement quoted Yash Puri, CEO & Director of AMDU, as saying. “Their backing sends a strong signal across the industry that locally rooted companies like ours can scale, innovate and establish stronger corporate governance. With Team Ventures’ strategic support, we are confident in our ability to reduce dependency on imports and develop world-class products for the domestic and export markets.”
Team Ventures said that a strategic partnership with the Commercial Agriculture for Smallholders and Agribusiness (CASA) Programme, an FCDO-funded initiative implemented jointly by Swisscontact and NIRAS played a pivotal role in enabling it to strengthen its agri-sector portfolio. Through this collaboration, the firm gained access to technical expertise to assess the market landscape, identify investable agribusinesses, and support them in becoming investment ready.
The partnership showcased the catalytic potential of blended finance and development collaboration in unlocking private capital for high-impact sectors.
“This partnership shows that agriculture is no longer just a development priority—it’s a compelling investment opportunity,” the statement quoted Manish Bikram Shah, Country Manager of CASA Nepal, as saying. This transaction alone has mobilized over 22 times the value of the original grant component and Team Ventures remains committed to expanding its presence in Nepal’s agri-sector and will continue to generate multi-fold impact by backing scalable, market-driven enterprises that drive sustainable growth, the statement added.
