Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the Gwarko flyover on Friday, June 20, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport (MoPIT) said Monday.
Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, along with senior officials from the Department of Roads (DoR), had conducted an on-site inspection of the long delayed infrastructure project Saturday.
According to Deep Barahi, Head of the Quality Research and Development Center under the Department of Roads, the flyover will be ready for vehicular movement following the completion of final tasks, including the installation of lane separators and road markings.

Originally contracted in February 2022 under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model, the Rs 170.688 million project was awarded to Ashish Samanantar Religare JV. Although the contract was signed early, actual construction only commenced in February 2023—delaying the project by nearly a year from the start.
The four-lane, single-span flyover features a 320-meter ramp on the Balkumari side and a 185-meter ramp near B&B Hospital, with a central bridge span of 35 meters. It maintains a vertical clearance of six meters to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement beneath.
The initial completion deadline was February 2024, but multiple delays—including a technical issue in March this year caused by ground subsidence and joint displacement—forced repeated extensions.
