CTEVT Marks 26th Anniversary
Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) marked its 26th founding anniversary on Monday, 24th February with a programme. On the occasion, Ministry of Education´s Secretary Narayan Man Malego applauded the Council for its best performance in technical field in all development regions. Three institutes affiliated to CTEVT--Nepal Army´s Institute of Health Science, College of Nursing, Kathmandu, Khwapa Poly Technical Institute, Bhaktapur and Nepal Politechnical Institute, Chitwan--were declared best institutes at the programme. The council also awarded four staffs as best performers, whereas seven others were felicitated for their dedication to work.
HSEB Publishes Grade 12 Re-total Results
Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) has published the re-total result of regular and partial examination of grade 12 Management, Humanities & Education on 24th February. Students can collect changed mark sheet from HSEB office 10 days from the day of result publication. The examination was conducted in 2013, April.
No of SLC Aspirants Goes Up
A total of 566,085 students will be sitting the School Level Certificate (SLC) examination that begins on March 20. The number is higher by 54,920 compared to last year. Out of the total number, 419,352 students are from regular category while 146,733 are from exempted category. Similarly, 1,836 exam centres have been fixed, out of which 87 are in Kathmandu alone. The OCE has already dispatched around five million question papers of 52 subjects to 72 districts except in Kathmandu Valley.
KUSOM and Janata Bank Signed MOU
Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) signed an MOU with Janata Bank Nepal Limited. According to the MoU, the bank will hire three MBA toppers of the School every year as management trainees. The students would not have to go through the regular selection procedures but will be hired through direct interview. Dean of the KUSOM lauded the effort of Janata Bank as a strategic initiative for talent management and university - industry partnership.
Tibetan Scholarship Programme Opens
The Tibetan Scholarship Programme (TSP) 2015 has opened. The scholarship programme is sponsored by Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and administered through a cooperative agreement with The Tibet Fund, in collaboration with the Central Tibetan Administration’s (CTA) Department of Education. The U.S. Department of State has been providing funds for the scholarship programme so that Tibetan students from India and Nepal can pursue higher education in the United States since 1998. Since the TSP was made available to Tibetan students in Nepal in 2012, there have been two winners. Applications are due on March 31, 2015.
CIAA Directed TSC to Publish Results
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) directed the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) on Friday, March 1st to publish results of the examination held earlier to select teachers. The result process was brought to a halt after the CIAA issued a directive to put the results on hold responding to the complaints of irregularities on the written test results. Out of 413,000 examinees around 11,000 candidates have already passed the written tests for the secondary level.
