Smuggled Fish Fingerlings from India Destroyed in Chitwan

March 10: Twenty thousand fish fingerlings were destroyed in Chitwan. The stray fingerlings, which had been hidden and brought from India, were found and destroyed at Milijuli Chowk in Ward No. 16 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

The chief of the Narayangadh Ward Police Office and Police Inspector Basant Pandey informed that fingerlings, which had been smuggled from India, were seized and destroyed. A team of police led by Pandey seized the illegal fish.

Fingerlings were destroyed in the presence of Animal Quarantine, ward representatives, and journalists, said Inspector Pandey. The market value of the destroyed fish is Rs 3 lakhs.
