Avalanche in Manang Causes Inconvenience to Locals and Tourists

March 5: An avalanche occurred at Dhukurpokhari of Ngisyang rural municipality in the district, causing inconvenience to people's movement.

It has become difficult for the locals as well as tourists to travel between upper and lower areas of Mustang.

Chief District Officer Subash Kumar Lamichhane informed that although the avalanche had not blocked the road, it was difficult for people to trek in the upper belt. The upper belt of the district had witnessed massive snowfall on Sunday night.
"Arrival of tourists has started here, but the avalanche has caused risk," said Dhak Bahadur Bhujel, district chief of Annapurna Conservation Area Project. Some 50 to 60 tourists visit the area daily. He further informed that the tourists were made aware about the risk caused by the avalanche. -- RSS
