Standard Chartered Best Consumer Internet Bank in Nepal
Standard Chartered Bank, Nepal has received Global Finance - World's Best Consumer Internet Bank Awards 2014 for Nepal in Asia Pacific category. The award was announced in New York on 24th July, 2014 by Global Finance as the First Round winners in the ‘World’s Best Internet Banks’ competition in Asia-Pacific. Winners were chosen from entries evaluated by a panel of judges at Infosys, a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing. Global Finance editors were responsible for the final selection of winners in the First Round. Earlier this year, the Bank was also awarded with ‘The Global Finance World’s Best Banks 2014 Awards’ for Nepal in emerging markets category by The Global Finance magazine.  
 
Laxmi Bank and Mercy Corps Ink Agreement
Laxmi Bank and Mercy Corps Nepal have signed an agreement to facilitate Laxmi Bank to open branches in three financially underserved districts Bhojpur, Salyan and Rukum. CEO of Laxmi Bank Sudesh Khaling and Country Director of Mercy Corps Nepal Sanjay Karki signed the agreement on 8th August,2014. Under the partnership, Mercy Corps will support a portion of Laxmi Bank’s operating costs of the three branches until July 2015 through DFID-SAFAL project with the common objective of providing access to banking products and services in these districts. The Sustainable Access to Finance and Livelihoods (SAFAL) project is a part of DFID Nepal Access to Finance for the Poor Programme in Nepal. Laxmi Bank targets to provide financial services to a total of 3,486 people and disburse loan amounting to Rs 109 million. 
 
New Incarnation of Century Commercial Bank
Century Commercial Bank Limited has announced that it will be now known as ‘Century Bank’. According to the Bank, it has reinvented itself with a new name and technical improvements. Also, the Bank has changed its official colours to green and orange. 
 
NMB Bank launches ‘Financial Literacy Program’
NMB Bank has started ‘Financial Literacy Program’ across the country in association with National Banking Institute. According to the Bank, the program is initiated to impart knowledge and understanding on the importance of financial literacy in all levels of society. The Bank conducted its pilot project for the program in its Lubhu Branch on 20th August and will roll out the program through its branches in and outside the valley with particular focus in rural areas.  “Financial Literacy is a must for every individual in all walks of life. We have taken up this campaign to add value to not only the lives of our customers but the general masses at large,” said CEO of the Bank Upendra Poudyal.  
 
Citizens Bank’s Branch in Chainpur
Citizens Bank International has opened a new branch in Chainpur of Bajhang. The branch was inaugurated by Deputy CEO of the Bank Ganesh Raj Pokhrel. On the occasion of inauguration of the branch, the Bank also provided financial assistance to two schools of Bajhang for purchasing books for library. With the new branch, the network of the Bank has expanded to 44 branches, 38 ATM counters and 225 branchless banking units. 
 
Kumari Bank and JME Sign Remittance Agreement
Kumari Bank Ltd and Japan Money Express Pvt Ltd (JME) have signed an agreement to provide online remittance service through JME of Japan. Chief Marketing Officer of Kumari Bank Suresh K Karna and Chairman of JME Deependra Joshi signed the agreement to extend remittance service throughout Nepal.  Now, Nepalis residing in Japan can send money to Nepal through JME. With this agreement Kumari Bank will provide JME remittance service through all its branches and more than thousand Kumari remit agents.
 
Janata Bank Installs ATM in Makhan
Janata Bank Nepal Ltd has installed its new ATM in ATM Lounge of Makhan. The ATM was inaugurated by Director of the Bank Nirmal Jyoti Tuladhar. The ATM facilitates cash withdrawal using debit cards of SCT Network banks and international cards like Master Card, Union Pay, JCB, Diners Club and Discover. This is the 27th ATM of the Bank.    
 
NIC Asia Opens Four Branches
NIC ASIA Bank has opened four new branches at Kapan, Golfutar, Balaju, and Lazimpat in Kathmandu. The branches were jointly inaugurated by Banks’ Director Ganesh Man Shrestha and CEO Sachin Joshi. With this, the Bank now has 66 branches, 61 ATMs, and a Call Centre.
