The most important thing is that something new has been initiated upon, which is very appreciable. The ranking of colleges based on various parameters has been a thorough exercise, and parents and students are likely to benefit from its result.

Colleges, however, are not being able to offer theoretical as well as practical education. Some colleges are offering internships in foreign colleges but most Nepalis cannot afford those colleges. The quality of education should be improved so that students are marketable in the international job market too.

Award ceremony for business schools is now a new endeavour that encourages the entire B-School community. The colleges have been awarded on the basis of 10 criteria including curriculum, teaching method and physical infrastructure. All colleges that participated have been rated or awarded, but his does not mean that who did not participate are not good colleges. They might not have been interested in the event.

The ceremony emphasises the importance of good human resource to operate a B-School. This in turn encourages colleges to yield good human resource as per market demands.

Rating ranking is important for the healthy competition. This ceremony is an initiative for the tradition of that. There are no any criteria and parameters to rate and rank the colleges in government level. So this might be an opportunity for the colleges to be judged themselves. Numbers of colleges are found to be absent in the competition. And I believe ranking should not be done only according to the data provided by the colleges. Field visit of the colleges should be prioritized more. However, Juries have fairly judged the colleges. The positive aspect of the program is participation of the students, parents and the employer companies who hire the manpower produced by those colleges. B-Schools in Nepal have not been able to provide practical education. And the curriculum too in Nepal is not according to the market demand. This program helps in reducing the weaknesses of the B-Schools. It is a big achievement and should be continued in future too.

Initiation of something new has been done. Now, people know which institution produces the skilled manpower. It gives the message in the market about the better colleges. That’s why it is important to include more colleges as far as possible. The process includes the B-School’s present situation and their practices. Along with that, the updated curriculum has also been included. However, as the curriculum update is in the hand of the university, the affiliation of the college with particular university is an important aspect. The ceremony might increase the healthy competition between the colleges for providing quality education. That’s why more colleges should be made participants and the programme like this should be continued in future too.

Most important and positive thing to take is the ‘New Business Age’ magazine has started something new. Now parents know which college is the better one. But it’s not that the colleges who have not participated are not good. One who did not meet the criteria and who were new could not participate. Likewise, some information provided was found weak. In coming days, more colleges with true information should be included. Colleges should also co-operate in that. The best colleges are judged on basis of the particular parameters without any biasness.

The judgment has been done by the experts from all fields. The parameters made for the ranking were scientific. I believe ranking has been done fairly and in quite appropriate way. Now, market will know about the present situation of business education in Nepal. Some colleges have not participated, which I found as a weakness part. The ranking has been done within the participated colleges. The ranking has been done fairly because of the varieties of the personalities in the jury. Perhaps, organizers should emphasize on field visit of the colleges rather than the secondary data provided by the colleges themselves. Taking about the Nepali B-Schools some colleges are good. Some colleges are also practicing international affiliation. Entrepreneurs and professionals should be consulted before making the curriculum which would help produce the manpower which they would require.
