NEW APPOINTMENTS 

Pranay Kumar has joined LIC Nepal as Director & CEO after the tenure of Laxmi Prasad Das was over. Kumar started his journey in LIC as a direct recruit Officer circa 1993. A fellow of the Insurance Institute of India, Kumar has a wide experience in marketing and administration. Before coming to Nepal, he was Sr. Divisional Manager, LIC Nagpur, and has worked in the capacity of Chief Manager, Jammu, Manager (OS) Srinagar Division. 

Saroj Guragain has joined National Fund Management Limitet as Chief Executive Officer. Earlier, he was Chief Deposit Officer of Sanima Bank Ltd. 

Deepak Kumar Agrawal has joined BATAS MAW Commercial Vehicles as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer. This company is a joint venture between BATAS Organization and MAW providing sales, service & spare-parts of Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles in Nepal. Earlier, he was CEO of Jagdamba Motors, the authorised dealer of TVS of Shankar Group. 

Phanindra Dahal has joined Agni Logistics Pvt Ltd. as Head of Business Development. Earlier, he was Enterprise Business Manager at Subisu Cablenet Pvt. Ltd. 

Rajnish Jha has joined Bibaabo Service as a Creative Head. Earlier, he was with Capital EYE Pvt. Ltd. as a Motion Graphic Designer. 

Babul Shrestha has joined FonePay as a Digital Business Analyst. Earlier, he was with NIC Asia Bank as a Web Analyst. 

PROMOTED 

Mohan Raj Joshi of Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd. has been promoted to Country Credit Head from GM-Business Banking. 

Sushant Pyakuryal of Spark Technology has been promoted to Senior Corporate Sales Manager - Media Sales from Corporate Sales Manager. 

Krishna Mohan Singh
Rajbanshi of Ncell has been promoted as Strategic Sourcing Specialist from Supply Chain Specialist. 

Harisharan Khadka of Raman Construction Pvt. Ltd. has been promoted to Finance Manager from Senior Accountant. 

RESIGNED 

Ajay Bhadra Khanal has left his positions as Board Director of Ukaalo Abhiyaan and Editor-in-Chief of Ukaalo.Com. 

ELECTED IN PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANY 

Shiksha Bhattachan has been elected as the Chairperson of Prabhu Life Insurance Company Ltd. Shiksha (32), who is the daughter of Devi Prakash Bhattachan, the chairperson of Prabhu Group, is the youngest chairperson in the country’s insurance sector. Earlier, the company’s annual general meeting elected Shiksha Bhattachan, Shyam Krishna Shrestha, Sushan Sherchan and Mijas Bhattachan as the company’s board directors from the promoter shareholders’ group. 

Keshav Prasad Bhandari and Ram Sharan Adhikari have been elected to the board directors of People’s Hydropower Company Ltd. from the ordinary shareholders’ group. Bhandari was earlier in the board of directors of Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank Ltd. and Mahuli Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. 

Suraj Shrestha has been elected to the Board of Director at Laxmi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited. 

Balram Khanal has been elected to the Board Director at United Ajod Insurance Limited. 

ELECTED IN ASSOCIATION 

Rajesh Kumar Agrawal has been elected President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI). The 20th AGM of the CNI has also elected other national council members. They include Sanjaya Golchha, Raj Bahadur Shah, Bidushi Rana, Ajit Bikram Shah, Hem Raj Dhakal, Aashish Agrawal Jajodiya, Manish Khemka, Dwiraj Sharma, Dhurba Prasad Rijal, Barsha Shrestha, Hitesh Golchha, Ashish Garg, Sapana Sapkota, Birendra Raj Pandey, and Laxmi Prasad Subedi. Similarly, other elected members are Gokul Bhandari, Sandeep Sharda, Mohit Kediya, Amit More, Amit Kumar Begani, Chandra Tandan, Rohit Gupta, Nirvana Chaudhary, Barun Kumar Todi, Rahul Kumar Agrawal, Sharad Kumar Tibrewala, Bikram Singhaniya, Milan Babu Malla, Dipak Agrawal, Vishal Agrawal, Saurab Dugad, Dilip Agrawal, Gopal Kumar Agrawal and Aditya Sanghai. Seven CNI vice presidents were elected from the elected national council members. The elected vice presidents are Nirvana Chaudhary, Birendra Raj Pandey, Raj Bahadur Shah, Hem Raj Dhakal, Rohit Gupta, Amit More and Bhim Ghimire

Sunil KC, Vice President of Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI) has been appointed as an Advisor at Independent Power Producers Association Nepal (IPPAN). 

Ganesh Karki and Mohan Dangi have been unanimously elected as the President and Senior Vice President, respectively, of the Independent Power Producers’ Association Nepal (IPPAN). As per IPPAN’s amended charter, Dangi will be automatically elevated to the post of president after three years. All other office-bearers were also elected unopposed. Ashish Garg, Bharat Kumar Khatri, Uttam Bhlon Lama, Ram Prasad Acharya and Ananda Chaudhary have been elected as vice presidents, while Balaram Khatiwada and Prakash Chandra Dulal have been elected as general secretary and deputy general secretary, respectively. Likewise, Bharat Prasad Nepal, Bharat Kumar Khadka, Kabita Pokharel, Bikram Bista and Him Prasad Pathak have been elected as secretaries, while Narendra Ballav Pant has been elected as Treasurer. Isha Shrestha, Susan Karmacharya and Suman Joshi have been elected as Members (Women). 

Advocate Sitaram KC has been elected as the President of Democratic Lawyers Association-Nepal from its 11th general convention. 

Rajesh Babu Shrestha has been elected as the President of the Federation of Nepal Body Building & Fitness Association. Similarly, Bijaya Lal Kayastha has been elected as Senior Vice President, while Sujan Lama and Roshan Maharjan have been elected as Vice Presidents. Similarly, Ajay Bajracharya has been elected as General Secretary, while Dinesh Kumar Rajbhandari and Balaram Subedi have been elected as Secretary and Treasurer, respectively. Dinesh Shrestha, Raj Kumar Shrestha, Babu Kaji Manandhar, Naresh Kumar Malla, Amrit Rokaya Chhetri, Rajesh Ratna Bajracharya, Durga Bahadur Shrestha, Nanita Maharjan and Binita Rai have been elected as executive committee members. 

Bibhuti Chand Thakur has been elected as President of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA). Thakur is Founder President of Himalayan Holidays Nepal Group. 

GOVERNMENT MOVEMENTS 

Dr. Shree Krishna
Bhattarai, a District Court judge, has tendered his resignation from his position. Bhattarai cited his discomfort in working under Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki as the reason for his resignation. 

Pankaj Joshi, Assistant General Manager of Salt Trading Corporation Ltd., has resigned from the organisation and has started a newspaper supplier company in India. 

Bhupal Baral has been appointed as the chairperson of Nepal Insurance Authority. The Ministry of Finance sent Joint Secretary Baral to the post by recalling Ritesh Shakya to the finance ministry. Baral is also the Chairman of Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse). 

Kewal Prasad Bhandari, secretary of the National Planning Commission, has been transferred to the Ministry of Labour and Employment as per the cabinet decision. Likewise, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ek Narayan Aryal, has been transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, while Toya Narayan Gyawali, secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, has been transferred to the National Planning Commission. Similarly, Mani Ram Gelal, secretary of the Ministry of Water Supply, has been transferred to the Prime Minister's Office, while Ram Aadhar Sah, who was working in the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, has been transferred to the Ministry of Water Supply. 

Anita Shah Dhungana has been appointed as the Member of the National Planning Commission. Dhungna, who has also worked with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), has also led several cooperatives and microfinance institutions. 

Sur Krishna Baidya has been appointed to the Board Director of Securities Board of Nepal (Sebon). Baidya, is the vice president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). Previously, Anjan Shrestha was representing FNCCI in the Sebon board. 

Baikuntha Aryal has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal. He was appointed Chief Secretary a few days before his retirement after the post became vacant with the government’s decision to appoint Chief Secretary Shankar Bairagi as the Adviser to the National Security Council. 

Dr Bhupendra Basnet has been named the Vice Chancellor of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS). He was serving as the officiating chancellor of the NAMS. 

Prakash Sayami has been appointed as the PR Head of the Nepal International Film Festival. 

Shobhakanta Poudel has been appointed as the Chief of the Department of Customs. He has previously served in the Large Taxpayers Office and Inland Revenue Department. Poudel has also worked as the Director General of the Department of Customs in the past 

Gopi Krishna Neupane has resigned as the General Manager of state-owned Udayapur Cement Industries Ltd. Neupane submitted his resignation to Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Ramesh Rijal, stating that he cannot work unless the ministry extends support for the restructuring of the cement industry.
