Government Forms Committee to Study the Involvement of Nepali Citizens in Russian Army

December 1: The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has formed a committee to study the involvement of Nepali citizens in the Russian Army.

The government started inquiring about how Nepali youths joined the Russian army after the death of four Nepali citizens in the Russia-Ukraine war a few days ago. To end the confusion, the ministry has formed a committee to submit a response with suggestions, said Rajiv Pokharel, the joint-secretary of the ministry.

There have been concerns that the Nepali nationals who joined the Russian Army used visit visas and student visas to engage in the war which Russia started in February last year.

The ministry said that a three-member committee has been formed under the coordination of Deepak Dhakal, under-secretary of the ministry. The committee has been given 15 days to submit the report with recommendations.
