Remittance Inflow Increases 23.4 Percent

June 9: Remittance inflow into Nepal in the first ten months of the current fiscal year has reached Rs 1005.18 billion. This amount is 23.4 percent more than the remittance inflow in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year, according to the Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation Report of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) released on Friday.

The report states that remittance inflow, in terms of US dollars, increased 13.4 percent to 7.70 billion in the review period against a decrease of 1.2 percent in the same period of the previous year.

Similarly, the number of Nepali workers taking approval for foreign employment increased 51.4 percent to 421,279 in the review period. It includes both institutional and individual labour permits.

Likewise, the number of Nepali workers renewing their labour permits for foreign employment in the review period increased 3.7 percent to 238,976.

It had increased 185.5 percent in the same period of the previous year.

According to the NRB, net transfer increased 22.5 percent to Rs 1110.22 billion in the review period. Such a transfer had increased 0.3 percent in the same period of the previous year.
