Cyber Bureau Initiates Investigation into Unauthorized Air Ticket Sales by Hackers

June 9: The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has started an investigation into the alleged sale and distribution of air tickets by foreign hackers targeting Nepali companies.

The Cyber Bureau started the investigation after receiving complaints that the hackers issued international air tickets by giving unauthorized access to login names and passwords through a phishing scam.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Pashupati Kumar Rai, deputy director of the bureau, said that the investigation has been started following complaints that hackers hacked the ticketing system and were involved in unauthorized ticket sales. According to SP Rai, a detailed investigation is currently being conducted.

SP Rai added that three companies have filed such complaints with the bureau. The bureau has also requested the service providers and ordinary citizens to be aware of such incidents. It was found that tickets worth millions were issued from the user names of three travel agencies operating in Nepal. -- RSS
