Yarsagumba Collection to Start in Dolpa from May 25   

May 22: Collection of the yarsagumba, an aphrodisiac herb found in the Himalayan region,  will be opened for public in Dolpa district from May 25. An all-party meeting convened by the District Coordination Committee, Dolpa took a decision to this effect.    
The meeting chaired by DCC Chief Sher Bahadur Budha at the district headquarters Dunai on Saturday was attended by the chief representatives of various district bodies. It has decided to allow collection of yarsagumba, which is scientifically known as ophiocordyceps sinensis, in Shephoksundo National Park and various community forests until June 24.    
Stating that the public has not been able to collect yarsagumba for a long time due to COVID-19 pandemic, this time it was opened for about a month.

Residents of the buffer zone, within the district and outside the district will be charged different entrance fees for the collection of the prized herb as per the National Parks Act and regulations. –- RSS
