DoTM Increases Public Transport Fares

May 18: The government has increased the fares of public transport with immediate effect. The Department of Transport Management under the federal government has adjusted the fare of public transport after the price of diesel and petrol was increased by Rs 10 per litre.

The fare has been increased by 5.1 percent. The department has increased the fare as per the arrangement of automatically adjusting the fare of public transport along with the change in the price of petroleum products.

The department has said that the increased fare will be applicable for public transport plying through two or more states (on a national level route) from Wednesday. Now the state governments will also adjust the fare of public transport on this basis.
