President Bhandari Issues Medical Ordinance to Facilitate Import of Covid-19 Vaccine

November 19: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Wednesday (November 18)  issued the third amendment to the Medical Ordinance.

The ordinance was issued by the president upon the recommendation of the Council of Ministers in accordance with Article 114, Clause 1 of the Constitution of Nepal, informed Keshav Prasad Ghimire, deputy spokesperson at the President's Office.

The state-run national news agency of Nepal – RSS – reported that the ordinance would facilitate the import of Covid-19 vaccine.

Health Minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal had reportedly said a few days ago that an ordinance was being brought to prevent legal problems during the potential import of Covid-19 vaccine.

Generally, new laws are brought through ordinances when the parliamentary sessions prorogued.
