NADA vs NAIMA: Rivalry Heats Up Ahead of Back-to-Back Auto Shows

With over 90 exhibitors, cutting-edge mobility tech, and daily prizes, the six-day NADA Auto Show 2025 aims to draw over 100,000 visitors

The NADA Auto Show 2025, presented by UNITREE, will be held from August 19 to 24 at the Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Grounds in Kathmandu.

Organised by the NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal, the 17th edition of the automobile and auto component exhibition is expected to be the largest automotive showcase ever hosted in Nepal.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel is scheduled to inaugurate the event, which organisers describe as a celebration of innovation, sustainability, and the evolving future of mobility in Nepal.

With the theme “Go For More,” the show will feature internal combustion vehicles, electric vehicles, hybrids, smart mobility platforms, and next-generation transport technologies, the organisers said at a press conference on Tuesday, August 5–just a day before the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025 begins.

Among the headline attractions at the NADA Auto Show are UNITREE’s advanced quadruped robots and the Deepal eVTOL UAV, offering a glimpse into future urban air mobility.

This year’s expo will include over 90 national and international exhibitors across more than 120 stalls. Exhibitors span 19 four-wheeler brands, 14 light commercial vehicle brands, 4 two-wheeler brands, and 35 component and service companies—including lubricants, tyres, batteries, garage equipment, and financial institutions. The exhibition will cover 300,000 sq. ft., including 162,500 sq. ft. of dedicated display space, according to organisers.

To enhance visitor experience, tickets are available for pre-purchase via the Khalti app with a 20% cashback offer valid until August 18. On-site arrangements include a media desk, traffic information booth in coordination with the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, emergency medical services, fire prevention systems, and 24/7 surveillance.

Additional highlights include a Vintage Motor Show showcasing iconic models such as the Morris Minor, Fiat, Mini Cooper, VW Bus, and Toyota RT40; a Made in Nepal Pavilion featuring domestically assembled vehicles and components; and an International Business Pavilion offering insights into global mobility and investment potential.

The event will also host workshops, panel discussions, and seminars on topics such as EV trends, smart mobility, and sustainability.

nullAttendees can also win a year’s supply of lubricants per servicing through daily lucky draws sponsored by Nepal Lube Oil Limited.

Organisers said in a statement following the press conference that they expect more than 100,000 visitors over six days.

In what appeared to be a pointed remark aimed at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025—set to take place at the same venue from August 6–10 August—NADA stated that “true scale is measured not in slogans but in trust, legacy, and delivery.”

The Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), launched on April 16, 2025, by a group of automobile importers and manufacturers seen as having split from NADA, has also claimed prominence.

NAIMA President Ritu Singh Vaidya said at a recent press conference that their
event would be “Nepal’s biggest and most significant mobility expo.” While both organisations claim their parallel existence will benefit the auto industry, insiders say a new rivalry is unfolding in Nepal’s mobility expo scene.
