The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has secured victory in 124 constituencies so far in the ongoing vote count for the March 5 House of Representatives election.

According to the latest update from the Election Commission (EC), an RSP candidate is also leading in one constituency out of the total 165 constituencies.

The Nepali Congress (NC) has won 17 seats so far and is leading in one constituency. Similarly, the CPN (UML) has secured eight seats and is ahead in one constituency.

The EC said that seven candidates from the Nepali Communist Party have also won seats in the House of Representatives.

Likewise, the Shram Sanskriti Party has won three constituencies, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and an independent candidate have secured one seat each.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) has decided to withhold the election result for Dhanusha Constituency No. 1 until the Supreme Court issues an order on a dispute related to the candidacy of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Kishori Sah ‘Kamal’.

The commission had annulled Sah’s candidacy on March 2 after finding that his name appeared on the blacklist of the Credit Information Center.

According to Section Officer (Law) Arun Adhikari, the commission sent a letter on Sunday to the Office of the Election Officer for Dhanusha-1 directing it not to announce the result.

As the decision has been challenged in the Supreme Court, the commission instructed the election office to keep the result of the first-past-the-post (FPTP) election for the constituency on hold until the court issues its order.

A total of 65 political parties contested the election under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) system for 165 seats in the House of Representatives, while 110 seats will be filled through the proportional representation (PR) system.

Under the FPTP system, 3,406 candidates—3,017 men, 388 women and one from the other gender category—contested the election.
