Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa is trailing Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) candidate Dr Amaresh Kumar Singh in the early vote count in Sarlahi-4.

According to the latest tally, Singh has secured 1,239 votes, while Thapa has received 768 votes.

Singh had won the constituency in 2022 as an independent candidate after the Nepali Congress denied him an election ticket. He secured 20,017 votes in that election, defeating the Nepali Congress candidate, who received 18,253 votes.

In this election, Thapa left Kathmandu-4 to contest against Singh. A close battle between the two is expected as the vote counting progresses.

Rakesh Mishra of the Janamat Party is in third place with 250 votes.
