From all-party meetings to the delivery of ballot materials and the setting up of polling centres, preparations for the March 5 House of Representatives election are in full swing across the country.
Nepal is set to vote on Thursday to elect the 275-member House of Representatives, the Lower House of the Federal Parliament. Of the total, 165 lawmakers will be elected under the first-past-the-post system, while 110 will be chosen through proportional representation.
In Humla, a Nepali Army helicopter has been deployed to airlift election officials, security personnel and polling materials to remote polling centres after road access was disrupted.
In Kanchanpur, election officials were seen carrying polling materials on their shoulders as they headed towards their assigned voting stations.
Meanwhile, in Rupandehi, vote counting centres were being set up and multi-party discussions were being held to ensure smooth and fair polling and counting processes.
Across districts, authorities say all necessary arrangements are being finalised to ensure the elections are conducted in an orderly and secure manner.
