“Newa-Flix”, an over-the-top (OTT) platform dedicated to Nepal Bhasa content, has been launched to bring Nepal Bhasa films, music and cultural programmes to a global audience.
The platform was unveiled at an event organized by Elohan Entertainment at Kirtipur Cineplex on Saturday, February 28.
Dinesh DC, Chairperson, Nepal Film Development Board, attended the programme as chief guest. In his remarks, DC recalled the era of cultural movements marked by pamphlets and wall slogans, praising Darshanbir Shakya, Chief Operating Officer of Elohan Publication, for his contribution to heritage and culture.
Narendra Maharjan, Chairperson of Kirtipur Cineplex, called on filmmakers facing difficulties in screening Nepal Bhasa films to reach out for support.
Senior photographer Raj Bhai Suwal expressed confidence that Nepal Bhasa cinema would expand its reach to wider audiences with the rise of OTT platforms.
Darshanbir Shakya described the launch as a new chapter for the Nepal Bhasa community. He said the platform was developed over two years with technical support from Plutonic Media.
