Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has decided to keep the prices of petroleum products unchanged despite an increase in prices in the international market.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the state-owned oil monopoly said it retained the existing prices to ease the financial burden on consumers.
According to the NOC, international prices have increased by Rs 2.09 per litre for petrol, Rs 2.47 per litre for diesel and Rs 18.58 per cylinder for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Petrol currently costs Rs 154.5 per litre in first-category areas, Rs 156 in the second category and Rs 157 in the third category.
Similarly, diesel and kerosene are priced at Rs 139.50 per litre in the first category, Rs 141 in the second category and Rs 142 in the third category.
The depots at Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi and Birgunj fall under the first category. The Dang depot falls under the second category, while Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dipayal depots fall under the third category.
The NOC revises fuel prices every fortnight, if necessary, based on the price list provided by its sole supplier, Indian Oil Corporation. – With inputs from RSS
