The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index held steady on Wednesday, February 11, after early gains in trading. The benchmark index closed at 2,662.09, down just 0.04 points from Tuesday’s 2,662.14.

The index had experienced declines earlier in the week, falling 0.37% on Sunday and 0.96% on Monday.

Analysts suggest that heightened caution ahead of the March 5 House of Representatives elections has left long-term investors indecisive.

Of the shares traded, 133 declined, 113 advanced, and 13 remained unchanged.

All major sub-indices closed higher: the Sensitive Index rose 0.17%, the Float Index gained 0.04%, and the Sensitive Float Index added 0.11%.

Among individual gainers, Ridi Power Company Limited (RIDI) led with a 9.67% increase, while Super Mai Hydropower Limited (SMH) recorded the day’s steepest loss, falling 6.39%.

In terms of turnover, RIDI topped the chart at Rs 654.77 million, followed by Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company Ltd (AKJCL) and Singati Hydro Energy Limited (SHEL).

Of the 13 sectoral indices, only five closed in the green. The Development Bank Index led with a 0.18% gain, while the Hotels and Tourism Index recorded the steepest sectoral loss at 0.63%.

Total market capitalization slightly declined to Rs 4,469.71 billion from Rs 4,469.80 billion on Tuesday.
