The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index slipped below the 2,700-point mark again on Sunday, February 8, closing at 2,698.43. The benchmark fell 0.37 percent from last Thursday’s close of 2,708.70.
The market had gained 1.01 percent in the previous session on Thursday.
A total of 26,236,204 shares were traded through 111,978 transactions. Daily turnover rose marginally to Rs 11.65 billion, compared to Rs 11.58 billion on Thursday.
Market breadth remained weak. As many as 168 stocks declined, while 85 advanced and seven remained unchanged.
All major sub-indices ended lower. The Sensitive Index fell 0.17 percent. The Float Index dropped 0.33 percent. The Sensitive Float Index declined 0.08 percent.
Among individual stocks, Super Mai Hydropower Limited (SMH) hit the upper circuit to emerge as the top gainer. Ridi Power Company Limited (RIDI) and Khanikhola Hydropower Co. Ltd. (KKHC) followed, rising 9.98 percent and 9.97 percent, respectively.
Kalinchowk Darshan Limited (KDL) led the losers, shedding 8.21 percent.
By turnover, Super Madi Hydropower Limited (SMHL) topped the list with transactions worth Rs 560.34 million. Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company Ltd (AKJCL) and Ridi Power Company Limited (RIDI) followed.
Only two of the 13 sectoral indices closed in positive territory. The Others Index rose 0.46 percent, while the Investment Index edged up 0.09 percent. The Hotels and Tourism Index posted the sharpest fall, down 2.13 percent.
Total market capitalisation declined to Rs 4,530.76 billion from Rs 4,547.97 billion last Thursday.
