Commission Readies Voter Lists, Parliament Building Nears Completion

With just a month to go before the House of Representatives election, the Election Commission has stepped up preparations to distribute voter lists with photographs to all districts.

Commission officials said staff are working to organise the lists according to polling centres and ready them for transportation.

Meanwhile, the first meeting of the new House of Representatives is expected to be held in the new parliamentary building, currently under construction at Putali Bagh, Singha Durbar.

According to Ekram Giri, spokesperson for the Parliament Secretariat, about 90 percent of the building’s physical infrastructure has been completed. Remaining work is expected to be finished within the next month, with the building scheduled to be handed over to the Secretariat by the third week of March.
