Former PM Bhattarai Withdraws from Gorkha-2 Race

Former Prime Minister Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai has withdrawn his candidacy for the upcoming House of Representatives elections.

Bhattarai had filed his nomination for the March 5 polls from Gorkha-2 representing the Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party. He submitted his withdrawal through his representative, Narayan Khatri, at the Election Office in Gorkha Municipality-8, said Election Officer Mohan Prasad Belbase.

Similarly, Gopal Babu Shrestha of the same party, who had filed his nomination from Gorkha-1, also withdrew candidacy.

Following these withdrawals, there are now 12 candidates contesting from Gorkha-1 and 13 from Gorkha-2 for the upcoming elections.
