Gold Price Surges Past Rs 300,000 per tola

Silver's, too, touched a record high

Gold price hit a new record in Nepal’s domestic market on Friday, January 23.

The price of hallmark gold surged by Rs 9,200 per tola (11.66 grams) in a single day to reach Rs 301,400, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association.

Silver also touched a record high. Its price rose by Rs 320 per tola from the previous session to Rs 6,190 per tola.

In the international market, gold was trading at $4,960 per ounce, while silver was priced at $98 per ounce, according to international media reports.

Gold and silver prices retreated on Thursday after a sustained rally earlier in the week.

Gold fell by Rs 2,900 per tola, while silver declined by Rs 50 per tola. They were traded at Rs 292,200 and Rs 5,870 per tola, respectively, down from Rs 295,100 and Rs 5,920 on Wednesday.

A day earlier, fine gold had traded at Rs 284,700 per tola, while silver stood at Rs 5,880.

On Monday, gold and silver were priced at Rs 282,000 and Rs 5,810 per tola, up from Rs 278,800 and Rs 5,625 per tola on Sunday.
