Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has reduced the prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene oil, effective from Friday, January 16.
According to the state-owned oil monopoly, the price of petrol has been lowered by Rs 3 per litre, while diesel and kerosene prices have been reduced by Re 1 per litre each.
With the latest adjustment, petrol now costs Rs 153.5 per litre in the first category, Rs 155 in the second category and Rs 156 in the third category. Similarly, diesel and kerosene prices have been fixed at Rs 133.50 per litre in the first category, Rs 135 in the second category and Rs 136 in the third category.
The first category includes Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi and Birgunj. Surkhet and Dang fall under the second category, while Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dipayal are placed in the third category.
NOC said the price adjustment was made in line with the revised purchase rates of petroleum products received from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). The NOC reviews fuel prices every fortnight based on the price list provided by IOC, its sole supplier.
The prices of aviation fuel and cooking gas have remained unchanged.
