vivo Bets on Cameras, ZTE on Design

vivo X300 Pro: A camera-led flagship

vivo’s X series has long been associated with advanced camera capabilities, and the X300 Pro stays true to that identity. Launched on December 14 and priced at Rs 179,999, the device positions itself as a direct rival to high-end competitors such as the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Available in Phantom Black and Dune Brown color options, it has been on sale since Daraz and authorized retailers across Nepal since December 15.

The phone’s defining feature is its camera system. Co-engineered with ZEISS, it includes a 200MP APO telephoto lens with advanced stabilization and a gimbal-grade main sensor. The setup delivers sharp images in both bright and low-light conditions. On the front, a 50MP ZEISS wide-angle camera handles selfies, video calls, and social-media-ready content with ease.

vivo has also strengthened the phone’s technical foundation. The MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, combined with the Pro Imaging Chip VS1 and V3+ Imaging Chip, accelerates image processing, improves low-light performance, and enables AI-powered shooting modes tailored for wildlife, flowers, and other scenarios. The X300 Pro clearly is clearly aimed at photography enthusiasts and content creators.

The hardware matches its flagship ambitions. The 6.78-inch ZEISS Master Color Display with 8T LTPO technology delivers rich, accurate colors, while ultra-slim bezels and eye-protection features enhance everyday usability. Durability is ensured through Armor Glass, IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, and a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.

ZTE’s Nubia Series: Design and Practicality

While vivo is focusing squarely on the premium flagship space, ZTE is targeting midrange with devices that prioritize design, usability, and dependable everyday performance. The two models—the Nubia V80 Design and the Nubia Air—were launched simultaneously, each catering to a distinct user profile.

The Nubia V80 Design stands out for its iPhone-inspired aesthetics. Its triple-lens camera module includes one decorative lens, and a dedicated AI button offers quick access to real-time translation, image editing, and contextual AI tools. While it does not aim to compete with flagship-level cameras, it performs well for routine tasks and casual use.

The phone features a 6.75-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate which ensures smooth visuals, while the Unisoc T7280 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM, handles everyday apps smoothly. Priced at Rs 19,999, it targets users who want a stylish phone without stretching their budget.

The Nubia Air, on the other hand, focuses on portability and durability. At just 6.7mm thick and weighing 172 grams, it is lightweight and comfortable to carry, yet robust enough for daily use thanks to its IP68/IP69K dust and water resistance.

Its 6.78-inch AMOLED display is sharp and responsive. The Unisoc T8300 chipset with 8GB RAM is not built for heavy gaming, but it is sufficient for daily tasks. The dual-camera setup, led by a 50MP main sensor, performs well for casual photography, while the 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging easily lasts a full day. Priced at Rs 33,999, the Nubia Air offers a mix of durability, portability and a premium feel. It makes a practical case for users who value comfort and design over raw power.
