NEPSE Edges Up 0.18%

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index inched up by 0.18 percent, or 4.90 points, on Tuesday, January 13, to close at 2,639.91, recovering modestly after a 0.20 percent decline on Monday. 

The market was closed on Sunday due to the public holiday for Prithvi Jayanti.

Market performance was mixed, with 118 securities advancing, 134 declining and eight remaining unchanged.

A total of 13.62 million shares were traded through 77,017 transactions, generating a daily turnover of Rs 6.99 billion. This marked an increase from Monday’s turnover of Rs 6.47 billion, when 12.31 million shares were exchanged across 78,808 transactions.

All major sub-indices closed higher. The Sensitive Index and Float Index each rose by 0.12 percent, while the Sensitive Float Index gained 0.18 percent.

Three Star Hydropower Limited (TSHL) led the gainers, hitting the upper circuit limit. In contrast, Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Company Limited (RHPL) posted the sharpest decline, shedding 6.09 percent.

By turnover, Radhi Bidyut Company Ltd (RADHI) topped the list with transactions worth Rs 546.57 million, followed by SY Panel Nepal Limited (SYPNL) and Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL).

Of the 13 sectoral indices, six ended in positive territory, with the Hydropower Index leading gains, up 1.02 percent. The Hotels and Tourism Index recorded the steepest loss, declining by 0.48 percent.

Total market capitalisation rose to Rs 4,432.47 billion from Rs 4,424.23 billion on Monday.
