A fire broke out in Gairigaun, Kathmandu, on Tuesday afternoon, January 6, affecting two buildings.
According to Senior Superintendent Pravin Dhital, spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, the blaze started at a furniture warehouse and spread to a nearby Loyola Secondary School. “The fire is almost under control,” he said.
Photos and videos shared on social media show a thick plume of smoke rising from the site, located near Tribhuvan International Airport. Fire engines were dispatched, and security personnel worked to contain the fire.
The cause of the blaze and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined, SSP Dhital added.
