Over 4.7 million people visit Narayanhiti Palace Museum in 17 years

The Narayanhiti Palace Museum recorded over 4.77 million visitors in 17 years after its establishment. 

The figures are as of mid-November 2025, reported the state-owned RSS news agency.

The seat of Nepal’s Royal family was turned into a museum after the first meeting of the first constitutional assembly on May 28, 2008 abolished the 240-year old monarchy and declared the country a republic.  

Information Officer at the Narayanhiti Palace Museum and Republic Monument Management and Operation Development Committee Purushottam Thapa informed rSS that as many as 260,000 people visited the museum last fiscal year. The figure was 46,700 until mid-November this fiscal year, which began in mid-July. 

The government charges Rs 50 for students, Rs 200 for Nepali citizens, Rs 500 for SAARC nationals and Rs 1,000 for foreign nationals as a museum visiting fee.
