nBank, Nabil Bank’s mobile application, marked its third anniversary on Monday, December 22.
The platform has evolved into a one-stop digital banking solution, offering more than 100 services through a single application, according to the Bank. From remittances and payments to loans and e-commerce, nBank aims to eliminate the need for branch visits altogether.
According to Nabil Bank, the app has been designed to serve users across age groups. Feedback on user experience has been positive, with both young and elderly customers finding the interface simple and accessible.
Speaking to NewBiz over the phone, Pradeep Nepal, Chief of nBank, said ease of use has been a key priority from the outset. “We have a clear objective that customers should not have to come to the Bank to take any service,” he said.
nRemit Targets Nepalis Abroad
One of nBank’s flagship products is nRemit, a cross-border remittance feature aimed at Nepalis living abroad. The service allows users to send money to any bank account in Nepal using an international debit or credit card.
Importantly, the sender does not need to be a Nabil Bank Account holder. Anyone with a Visa or Mastercard can download the app and transfer funds without signing up.
According to Nepal, users can remit between USD 100 and USD 5,000 in real time.
Payments Without Logging In
nBank also allows users to make QR payments and bill payments without logging in. Customers can access these services through the “Psst Tap Me” section on the app’s login page.
Users only need to enter their credentials at the final payment confirmation stage. The bank says this improves security while reducing friction in everyday transactions.
Similarly, QR payments can be made through the “Scan and Pay” option without logging in. Customers confirm transactions using a four-digit PIN. Sensitive information remains protected throughout the process.
These services are available to Nabil Bank account holders.
Virtual Dollar Card for Global Spending
Another major feature is the Virtual iCard, a virtual international dollar credit card issued under the Visa platform. The card allows customers to spend up to USD 500 annually on international e-commerce platforms.
Customers can also receive remittances of up to USD 5,000 annually through the card and transfer funds back to their Nabil Bank account in real time.
The card is secured with 3D authentication, including CVV, OTP and expiry date verification, the bank added. Users receive instant transaction alerts and can activate or deactivate the card at any time.
Anyone with a Nabil Bank account and a valid PAN card can apply for the Virtual iCard through the app.
Loans in Seconds, Not Days
nBank has also digitized credit services. Customers can apply for a Loan Against Fixed Deposit directly through the app.
The loan amount can go up to 90 percent of the fixed deposit value, with a tenure of up to one year. The entire process is digital and completed in real time.
Nepal said this service previously took 2-3 working days. “Now it can be done in 30 seconds to one minute,” he said.
Fixed deposits can also be opened through the app instantly, encouraging accountholders to save.
Digital Loans Based on Data
The Nabil Digital Loan is another widely used feature. It is an instant, short-term, pre-approved loan service available to eligible customers.
Loan amounts range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 200,000, with repayment options of up to 12 months. The interest rate is set at the base rate plus 4.5 percent.
Eligibility is determined through digital analytics. The system analyses transaction history, salary or rental income patterns, and account behaviour.
Customers do not need to apply separately. If eligible, the loan limit appears directly on the app.
“The customer journey is very smooth,” Nepal said. “The system looks at accounts and salary patterns and determines eligibility automatically.”
Marketplace Inside the App
nBank has also integrated a marketplace within the app. The bank has partnered with several platforms enabling users to browse products, complete purchases and make payments without leaving the app. The bank says the idea is to reduce app fatigue by offering multiple services under one platform.
The marketplace also includes food delivery, bus and flight ticket booking, travel packages, and other lifestyle services.
Expanding Beyond Banking
Beyond core financial services, nBank offers access to international driving permits (IDPs) and international eSIM data services. Customers can apply for UN-standard IDPs and purchase data plans for dozens of countries directly through the app.
As nBank enters its fourth year, Nabil Bank says it will continue to focus on automation, data-driven services and customer convenience, reinforcing its push towards fully digital banking in Nepal.
