Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha Appointed NPC Vice-Chairman

The government has appointed Dr Prakash Kumar Shrestha as Vice-Chairman and Prof Dr Suniti Shrestha Hada as a member of the National Planning Commission (NPC).

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday, December 15, said Minister for Communications and Information Technology and government spokesperson Jagadish Kharel.

Dr Shrestha previously served as an Executive Director at Nepal Rastra Bank. He worked for a long period as head of the central bank’s Economic Research Department. 

During the tenure of KP Sharma Oli as Prime Minister, Dr Shrestha also served as a member of the National Planning Commission.

Considered close to the CPN-UML, Dr Shrestha had been listed among potential candidates for Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank before the appointment of the current Governor, Biswo Nath Poudel.
