The Road Division Office, Hetauda, began demolishing roadside structures on Saturday morning, December 6, as part of its main road expansion drive. Hetauda is the capital of Bagmati Province.

According to Guru Prasad Adhikari, Chief of the Road Division Office, Hetauda, the demolition work started in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City–10 along Rapti Road. He told the state-owned RSS news agency that the office has started removing physical structures built within the designated road boundary.

The office had issued a public notice on November 21 directing the removal of permanent and temporary structures built within 22.86 metres on either side of the road centreline from Raatamate to Budhachowk along the East–West Highway. The same notice also applied to the section from Budhachowk to Samari Bridge along the Tribhuvan Highway. Owners were given 15 days to comply.
