Bhatbhateni’s Main Warehouse Reopens After Protest Arson

The reconstructed warehouse was formally inaugurated on Thursday, December 4.

Bhatbhateni Supermarket’s central warehouse, destroyed by arson during the Gen Z protests on September 9, 2025, is back in operation after a full rebuild.

The Baluwatar-based facility was gutted on the second day of the protest wave. According to the company, 21 outlets and warehouses were targeted across the country, with 12 suffering total destruction. The reconstructed warehouse was formally inaugurated on Thursday, December 4.

The main warehouse supplies goods to 27 Bhatbhateni outlets nationwide. The original structure, which had been completely damaged, was demolished and rebuilt from the ground up.

A company official said between 800 and 1,000 workers were mobilised at different stages to complete the reconstruction within three months.

Bhatbhateni said three other outlets — located in Koteshwor, Bouddha and Maharajgunj— badly damaged in the protests are expected to reopen within the next three months.

The company added that the closure of the central warehouse had disrupted its national supply chain.

Outlets in Naxal, Maharajgunj, Koteshwor and Bouddha inside the Kathmandu Valley suffered extensive damage. Stores in Pokhara, Dharan, Bharatpur, Butwal, Biratnagar, Birtamode, Hetauda and Damak were also razed.
