The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines, on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly promote Nepal’s tourism products in the international market.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on a wide range of promotional activities, including participation in global tourism fairs, digital marketing campaigns, familiarisation trips, joint publicity drives, mega events and destination branding, NTB wrote on its website.

As per the MoU, the Tourism Board will provide Nepal Airlines free participation as a ‘partner airline’ in major international tourism fairs, sales missions, roadshows, press briefings and other key promotional programmes. In return, Nepal Airlines will transport up to 100 kilograms of promotional materials free of charge to its international destinations and offer complimentary tickets for joint promotional programmes.

Both institutions have also agreed to jointly organise familiarisation trips involving journalists, bloggers, tour operators, celebrities and other influential personalities to project a positive image of Nepal in international markets.

The MoU further states that the two sides will integrate efforts on digital advertising of tourist destinations and products, production of promotional videos, joint branding, website link support and installation of joint hoarding boards. They also plan to jointly produce brochures, guidebooks, posters and promotional materials reflecting Nepal’s cultural diversity, and make joint appearances at foreign national day celebrations and international trade events when required.

Nepal Airlines will also provide concessional air tickets for mega events in Nepal involving foreign artists, filmmakers, sportspersons and other celebrities.

Both institutions expect the collaboration to make Nepal’s tourism promotion mechanism more dynamic, coordinated and result-oriented. They will prepare a joint progress report every six months to assess the effectiveness of the programmes.

Speaking after the signing, NTB Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi described the partnership as a historic step toward expanding Nepal’s international image and market reach.

“Nepal Airlines is our national pride, and tourism is a key driver of the economy. This strategic partnership will significantly strengthen the global promotion of the ‘Nepali brand’. Integrated promotion from airports to destinations will make Nepal’s identity clearer and more impactful. This effort will also be vital for sustainable tourism development,” he said.
