NEPSE Edges Up Again on Weekly Close

Stays green across all five trading days

A late-session upswing lifted the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) by 0.39 percent on Thursday, November 27. The benchmark added 10.43 points to close at 2,676.03, extending its winning streak to a fifth straight trading day.

NEPSE finished every session this week in positive territory. It gained 1.55 percent on Sunday, 1.94 percent on Monday, 0.20 percent on Tuesday and 0.36 percent on Wednesday.

Turnover eased slightly on the final trading day of the week. The market logged Rs 6.66 billion in transactions, down from Rs 6.69 billion the previous day. Over 14 million shares were traded across 86,170 transactions.

All major sub-indices advanced. The Sensitive Index rose 0.52 percent. The Float Index climbed 0.62 percent. The Sensitive Float Index gained 0.76 percent.

Market breadth was mildly positive. A total of 131 securities advanced. Another 121 declined. Six were unchanged.

Sagar Distillery Limited (SAGAR) hit the upper circuit and led the gainers. Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SWASTIK), Jhapa Energy Limited (JHAPA) and Shreenagar Agritech Industries Limited (SAIL) followed, each up 9.99 percent.

Him Star Urja Company Limited (HIMSTAR) was the day’s biggest loser, falling 7.78 percent.

NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) topped the turnover list with Rs 401.77 million. Ngadi Group Power Ltd. (NGPL) and Himalayan Reinsurance Limited (HRL) came next.

Five of the 13 sectoral indices declined. The Finance Index was the weakest performer, down 0.38 percent. Banking delivered the strongest gain, rising 1.49 percent. Other sectors in positive territory rose by less than 1 percent. 

Total market capitalisation increased to Rs 4,493.12 billion, up from Rs 4,475.60 billion on Wednesday.
