NEPSE Rises for Fourth Straight Day

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) rose 0.36 percent, or 9.61 points, to close at 2,665.60 on Wednesday, November 26, marking its fourth consecutive day of gains.

The benchmark index had climbed 1.55 percent on Sunday, 1.94 percent on Monday and 0.20 percent on Tuesday.

Market turnover also increased, reaching Rs 6.69 billion on Wednesday, up from Rs 5.82 billion the previous trading day. Over 13.62 million shares changed hands through 91,705 transactions, compared to more than 11.97 million shares traded from 102,642 transactions on Tuesday.

All major sub-indices advanced. The Sensitive Index gained 0.36 percent, the Float Index rose 0.30 percent and the Sensitive Float Index added 0.31 percent.

Of the traded securities, 142 advanced, 104 declined and 11 remained unchanged.

Jhapa Energy Ltd (JHAPA) hit the upper circuit and led the gainers followed by Sagar Distillery Limited (SAGAR) and Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (SWASTIK), each rising 9.99 percent.

Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited (BNL) was the day’s biggest loser, falling 3.94 percent.

NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited (NRN) topped the turnover chart with Rs 624.34 million. Shivam Cements Ltd (SHIVM) and Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) followed.

Among the 13 sectoral indices, five closed lower. The Hotels and Tourism Index posted the highest gain at 0.99 percent, while the Non-Life Insurance Index registered the biggest loss at 0.33 percent.

Total market capitalisation increased to Rs 4,475.60 billion, up from Rs 4,459.46 billion the previous day.
