Telecom companies have reported strong interest in the special packages launched for the second edition of the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL). Officials from Nepal Telecom and Ncell said user engagement has continued to rise since the packages were introduced, reflecting a similar trend observed last year.
Nepal Telecom has launched the NT Avengers Offer, an unlimited data package targeted at NPL viewers, from November 17. Company officials said the number of subscribers has been significant and higher than that of other regular packages. A senior Nepal Telecom official said the company introduced the offer to make it easier and more affordable for customers to watch NPL matches on their personal devices. Nepal Telecom has also released the Cricket Unlimited and Cricket Premium Unlimited packages. The Cricket Unlimited package, priced at Rs 499, provides 150 GB of monthly data with a daily Fair Usage Policy (FUP) of 5 GB, after which the speed is limited to 2 Mbps. The Cricket Premium Unlimited package is priced at Rs 699 and offers 300 GB of monthly data, with a daily FUP of 10 GB and speed capped at 3 Mbps after the limit. These packages remain valid for 28 days for prepaid users and 30 days for postpaid customers, with the postpaid price including rental charges.
Ncell has also attracted a high number of subscribers with its NPL-targeted Fan Packs, introduced for the tournament period. Company officials said that within a week of launch, subscriptions increased sharply as customers purchasing one-time or renewal packs received various bonuses depending on the package. Ncell said sales of NPL-focused data packs have risen substantially, adding that users do not incur any additional charges beyond the package price. The NPL Fan Packs remain valid until December 13 and include features such as on-net call minutes, complimentary TikTok or YouTube access, and bonus data valid for one day. Customers can also participate in the Spin and Win offer via the Ncell app to receive further bonuses and a chance to win NPL match tickets. The company rolled out 11 fan packs in total, each offering specific services and one-day bonus validity.
Officials from both Nepal Telecom and Ncell said the NPL-themed packages have drawn nearly double the interest seen in regular offers and are expected to boost their business performance during the tournament.
In addition to launching these packages, telecom companies are also involved as sponsors of the NPL. Ncell has partnered with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) as the “Powered By” partner for the league’s second edition, continuing its association from the first edition. A representative of Ncell said the collaboration would contribute to the development of Nepali cricket and help engage fans throughout the tournament. CAN Secretary Paras Khadka welcomed the partnership, saying Ncell’s support plays an important role in promoting Nepali cricket and expanding NPL’s international visibility. Last year, Nepal Telecom sponsored the Sudurpaschim Royals in the first edition of the NPL, though it has not sponsored any team this season.
