The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index advanced 1.94 percent or 50.44 points to close at 2,650.66 on Monday, November 24, marking the second consecutive day of gains. It had climbed 1.55 percent on Sunday.
Turnover strengthened further, rising to Rs 7.03 billion, up from Rs 6.28 billion the previous day. Over 14.20 million shares were traded across 79,714 transactions, compared to over 13 million exchanged through 76,028 transactions on Sunday.
All three key sub-indices ended higher. The Sensitive Index gained 1.74 percent, the Float Index rose 2.01 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index added 1.85 percent.
Market breadth remained firmly positive, with 215 securities advancing, 37 declining, and 6 remaining unchanged.
Jhapa Energy Ltd (JHAPA) was the day’s top performer, hitting the upper circuit limit to become the top gainer. Sagar Distillery Ltd (SAGAR), Bandipur Cablecar and Tourism Ltd (BANDIPUR) and Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd (SWASTIK) followed, each surging 9.99 percent.
On the losing side, Mabilung Energy Ltd (MABEL) fell 4.44 percent, to become the session’s biggest loser.
In terms of turnover, Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd (NLIC) led the market with Rs 248.15 million, followed by Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd (NRIC) and Himalayan Reinsurance Ltd (HRL).
All 13 sectoral indices gained. The Life Insurance sector topped the chart with a 4.94 percent jump, trailed by Manufacturing and Processing at 3.73 percent, Non-life Insurance at 2.99 percent, and Hotel and Tourism at 2.24 percent.
Total market capitalisation rose to Rs 4,450.52 billion from Rs 4,365.82 billion in the previous trading session.
