NEPSE Slips Marginally as Market Closes Nearly Flat

Trading volume improves in comparison to the previous day

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) edged down 0.03 percent, or 0.79 points, on Thursday, November 20, closing at 2,560.29. The benchmark index had fallen 0.19 percent in the previous day after closing higher for two consecutive days.

Market activity, however, showed improvement. Over 10.44 million shares worth Rs 4.68 billion were traded across 66,079 transactions, up from 8.38 million shares worth Rs 3.77 billion traded across 50,626 transactions.

All three major sub-indices closed in the red. The Sensitive Index fell 0.36 percent, the Float Index declined 0.10 percent, and the Sensitive Float Index dropped 0.36 percent.

Of the total securities traded, 138 declined, 112 advanced, and six remained unchanged.

Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (DLBS), Bandipur Cablecar and Tourism Limited (BANDIPUR), and Jhapa Energy Limited (JHAPA) hit the upper circuit, emerging as the day’s top gainers. In contrast, Bungal Hydro Limited (BUNGAL) recorded the steepest loss, sliding 9.05 percent.

Sahas Urja Limited (SAHAS) led the turnover chart with Rs 418.08 million, followed by Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd (SAPDBL) at Rs 169.33 million and Nepal Reinsurance Company Limited (NRIC) at Rs 126.98 million.

Among 13 sectoral indices, six posted gains. The Hotels and Tourism Index registered the highest gain at 1.08 percent, while the Finance Index recorded the steepest decline at 0.71 percent.

Total market capitalization declined to Rs 4,298.78 billion from Rs 4,300.12 billion the previous day.
