IRD Honours Highest Income Taxpayers for FY24

Raj Bahadur Shah once again topped the list in the individual taxpayer category, while the Nepal Telecommunications Authority – a government-owned body – led the institutional category

The government on Monday, November 17, unveiled the list of highest income taxpayers for fiscal year 2023/24, honouring contributors across various sectors on the occasion of National Tax Day. Although the names are made public, the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) does not disclose the exact amount of tax paid by each taxpayer.

Raj Bahadur Shah once again topped the list in the individual taxpayer category, while the Nepal Telecommunications Authority – a government-owned body – led the institutional category.

Among sole-proprietorship firms, Third Eye International emerged as the highest income-tax payer for the fiscal year.

In the goods-exporting sector, Dabur Nepal Pvt. Ltd. led the rankings, while Verik Nepal Pvt. Ltd. topped the list among companies exporting IT-related services.

In agriculture and livestock, Poshak Breeder Farm Pvt. Ltd. was recognised as the highest taxpayer.

In the banking, financial, and insurance sector, Nepal Investment Mega Bank paid the highest income tax.

Among health and education institutions, Nobel Medical College Teaching Hospital was listed as the top contributor.

In the tourism industry, Soaltee Hotel received top honours, while in goods-trading businesses, Bhatbhateni Super Market & Departmental Store was ranked highest.

Among businesses with an annual turnover exceeding Rs 500 million but below Rs 1 billion, CDS & Clearing Ltd. topped the income-tax list.

In the energy sector, Bhote Koshi Power Company led the category, and IME Limited was recognised as the highest taxpayer in remittance and money-transfer services.

Meanwhile, Nepal Telecom paid the highest VAT among taxpayers who consistently filed VAT returns and participated regularly in the tax system between FY 2019/20 and 2024/25.

Among companies with an annual turnover of up to Rs 500 million, VF Services (Mauritius) Pvt. Ltd. paid the highest income tax.

Unilever Nepal Limited was also honoured among the special industries.
